1. The standard teaching period for a unit is a semester of 13 weeks and involves the equivalent of 39 contact hours. However, some units may be offered on an Alternative Attendance basis but will still be equivalent to this standard: eg all the lectures may take place in a block, or on specified weekends through the semester.
2. Each Practicum unit involves 13 hours per week for a semester. This time requirement will include preparation, actual field experience, report writing, personal preparation and attendance at a field education seminar.
3. Attendance at all lectures is required except where a genuine reason exists for absence. Any absence from lectures should be advised to the lecturer.
4. Absence from lectures in excess of two weeks over a semester requires formal approval. Requests for leave from lectures, or advice of reason for absence, must be made in writing to the Academic Dean of the student's member school.
5. Except in cases where unforeseen extenuating circumstances are established, Academic Deans are required to impose an academic penalty for unapproved absence. Penalties will be at the discretion of the Academic Dean, but will be one of the following:
