MASTERS THESIS REQUIREMENTS

Research Methodology Units

X74097 Research Methodology for Theologians I and X74098 Research Methodology for Theologians II are compulsory for all students in the BCT's masters courses, and are both taught each semester. The first of these units assists students to develop a viable thesis/research proposal, while the second unit deals with the practicalities of writing the thesis.

The research methodology units are free to BCT postgraduate students. Both units are offered every semester.

The 2008 program is as follows:

Research Committee

The Research Committee of Brisbane College of Theology is responsible for managing all aspects of the coursework thesis in the Master of Theology and the Master of Ministry courses.

All Thesis Proposals are submitted for approval to the Research Committee. See Guidelines for Students Undertaking the Thesis Component of BCT Coursework Masters course.

In 2008 the Research Committee meets on the following dates:

27 February 2008
28 May 2008
27 August 2008
26 November 2008

Postgraduate Student Colloquia

In conjunction with the research methodology seminars, students are required to attend at least four (4) postgraduate research colloquia prior to submitting their thesis. However, regular attendance at all postgraduate colloquia (2 per semester) throughout the duration of their masters program is highly recommended. There is no cost for attendance at colloquia.
The format includes initial discussion on topics relevant to research programs and the presentation of papers by students. Regular attendance at postgraduate colloquiums (2 per semester) throughout the duration of their masters enrolment is highly recommended. There is no cost for attending the colloquia.
